The Cinema Foundation is gearing up for its second annual National Cinema Day on Aug. 27, with over 3,000 locations across the U.S. offering discounted movie tickets. Moviegoers will have the chance to see blockbuster films and indie releases for just $4 or less. The promotion includes a wide range of movies, from current blockbusters to classic films. Major theater chains such as Regal, AMC, and Cinemark are participating in the event, and some are offering concessions deals as well. The first National Cinema Day in 2022 set a record for single-day theater attendance, with approximately 8.1 million tickets sold. The Cinema Foundation aims to promote and expand the exhibition industry, and the National Cinema Day event is a way for them to show gratitude to fans who returned to theaters during the pandemic. The event is expected to be a huge success once again this year, bringing people together at the movies for a day of entertainment and celebration.
